Gonna replace my really obsolete, late 2009 white MacBook. No multiple machines. No primary or secondary machines. Just gonna buy one machine for all uses. Which model and what configuration should I get?

Without knowing what you use it for, no one can say.

Very true. But to throw out a wild hypothesis based on the Goldilocks principle, the 15" rMBP might be more machine than the OP needs or wants, the 12" rMB might be occasionally limiting in terms of connectivity or CPU- or GPU-intensive tasks...a 13" rMBP with 8 gb RAM and a 256 gb SSD should be plenty of computer for today's needs and tomorrow's. Without knowing what The OP wants it to do, though, that's just a WAG. :)

You should get the rMBP 13". The 2.7GHz model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD. And a Magic Mouse.
