I originally purchased a MacBook Air (2013, 13") and then decided to "upgrade" to a Retina MacBook Pro (2013, 13").

The rMBP's screen is absolutely fantastic. The best part of the screen is probably not the resolution, but the IPS panel. (so it's viewable at any angle)

When viewing webpages, the rMBP simply can't be beat.

However, I'm often playing very, very light games (old DOS emulated games) and I'm also often in Windows 8.1 (bootcamp) where scaling doesn't look that great.

It seems like the native resolution on the MBA (1440x900) looks better than the rMBP does when scaling (1280x800 [50% scaled], or even 1440x900).

I'm torn because the difference in cost isn't what the problem is... it's that a lot of my applications/games aren't "retina" so I'm almost always using scaled resolution.

Also, this laptop will almost always be used at home while on the couch or on the dining room table, etc.

Anybody else debating between these two systems with the same requirements as myself?
