hi, i tried searching for an answer but to no avail

i have a rMBP and wish to use it as a desktop, my issue is;

leaving the lid closed is my normal use, however it heats up a lot as the air can't vent

however i can't just leave the lid open as i want to mirror the display not extend it, and waste of energy leaving lcd on

how do i avoid the overheating issue? i don't mind leaving it open but then how do i turn lcd off?

i use 'nosleephelper' when i want it on during clamshell mode

is there a program that does the reverse? i.e. fakes the mac into thinking the lid is closed

what im thinking is to make the second display as primary and then turn the brightness on the macbook pro all the way down until its off. this should shut the screen off while open. then just use your external display.

thanks, i tried it however the screen isn't off, the backlight is. if you shine a light on it, shows clearly

my concern is, how much graphics power is used driving two displays ?

if there is no workaround, its fine but if possible want to use minimal resources
