Hi All,

Have been having a bit of an issue with my new mid config rMBP and migration assistant via Thunderbolt and was wondering if anyone has encountered this before.

Here is what happens:

1. Start up rMBP, choose language and get to migrate data screen. Connect old MBP running fully updated 10.6.8 and start in target disk mode (holding 'T' key on boot).
2. rMBP sees old MBP as external disk and goes to calculating file size screen.
3. Stays on calculating file size screen for a couple of min before restarts to choose language screen.
4. Old MBP stays in target disk mode.
5. Go through the process again and after being on the calculating screen for a couple of min the rMBP will again go back to the choose language screen.
6. Called Applecare and they are unable to assist apart from suggesting reinstall OS and try again.

Now I am wondering if there may be a Thunderbolt port issue because I use a couple of Seagate GoFlex 3.5" drives for TM and file storage. With my current MBP I have always connected via FW800, so when I had the above problem I thought I would try from time machine via Thunderbolt. I bought the Seagate TB dock, plugged the drive in, and a dialog box appears saying the drive is unreadable, do I want to format the drive.

Plug it back on my MBP via FW800, reads and works fine.

So now I am at a loss.

Any suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreciated or else I will have no choice but to return it.

Thanks all!
