For a very specific reason I need to be able to take screenshots in very quick succession, I do this using a little shell script and it works how I need it to on older MBPs, but I have a little problem when it comes to RMBPs.

The resolution is effectively double whatever it is set at, so 1280x800 becomes 2560x1600 and so on, making screenshots take a lot longer to take and take up much more room.

I'm wondering if it is possible to force the screen to be a resolution, such as 1280x800, without the scaling being applied?

I realise I could achieve this with an external screen and going into clamshell mode, but I would rather avoid that if I can.

Yes, just download SwitchResX and change your resolution to 1440x900 or 1280x800. These aren't scaled.

I was hoping for something that avoided any extra download/software, but if it works, great. Thanks.
