Yes they do need to increase the RPM range

They also really need to update the interface to Retina resolution.

Huh. I'm surprised the read speeds aren't higher. I would have expected ~500MB/s.

I'm also surprised the rMBP isn't faster.

My 13" MPB with a Samsung 830 SSD is getting better numbers.

Write: 391.6 MB/s Read: 475.0 MB/s.

This is not a retina, but a 2012 15" MacBook Pro with an OEM SSD. FileVault is enabled as well.
