Okay, I don't even know if there is a post like this one out there, but I just had to ask. After reading many of you people's forums this question came across my mind. How many of you have an LG Retina Macbook Pro 15 and have had no problems? And for all of you that do have Samsung retina's, have you had any problems? My new computer arrives the 26th and seeing I do a ton of video editing, I needed to know! Please let me know guys! Thanks!

MRoogle is your friend.

Overall there is no guarantee that an LG screen will have Image Retention (IR) but a disproportionate amount of LG suffer issues compared to Samsung Screens. And may increase susceptibility over the life of the display. From my personal experience, Pray for a Samsung.

My history; Since July 2012
(Samsung) replaced due to white blemishes/pressure marks in lower third.
(LG) replaced after three months due to image retention/ghosting.
(Samsung) currently no known/observable issues.

My history: 3 units with Samsung: no display blemishes of any kind. 1 unit with LG: image retention right out of the box.

It is inevitable that image retention will pronounce on LG displays within a few months, while Samsung is prone to getting dead pixels over time (not all displays though).

Pray for a Samsung, stress test it the first days (you know... Just keep it on a lot), and if it doesn't show dead pixels then, you're pretty much safe. Dead pixels usually appear pretty much out of the box, or after normal tear and wear. Very rarely do dead pixels appear after a couple of months of normal use unless they were there from the start.

Yeah, I will definitely be hoping for a Samsung! I also got a custom build, will it take them long to fix the screen if I get a faulty LG? Just curious.

2 days at apple store took them to replace my LG one to Samsung. To be honest - LG looked better, more unified with colors etc, Samsung is not that great.

Generally if you have a custom rMBP you will drop it off and they will swap out the display only. If it's a stock machine, then they may just swap the whole machine.

Not sure how accurate or valid it is, but here is an Image retention test.

I tried it just for kicks and didn't wait the whole 10 minutes. Hard to do that on a new laptop :)

But didn't notice anything.
