Right, so I'm a proud owner of a 15" rMBP as of about a week ago. It's for college, as I'm studying graphic design. That meaning, I often run Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc. and the laptop gets hot.
I really want to protect it, as it was a big investment. So far, I'm going for absolute overkill and getting this skin, or other stick on skin, to prevent scratches, this keyboard cover (someone in my year had a friend spill a tiny drop of beer on her laptop and it somehow got under the keyboard, fried her machine and she had to pay a few hundred to repair it) and then the difficulty comes with the cases - do I go for a hardcover snap-on case, or a really padded sleeve?
So far the Thule sleeve seems to be the most protective - either the Attache or the Gauntlet - but while using the laptop, if it fell, the laptop could fall out of the case altogether and still be damaged. Also, I have a feeling it will overheat easily, there being no ventilation.
The other option is the booq viper. And again, it could fall out of the case as there is nothing securing it inside.
The hard shell options are what throws me - the Speck apparently scratches parts of the aluminium when coming on and off, which has to be done to prevent dirt scratching the inside. Same with incase.
Would it be possible to use one of these hardcover cases and a tight fitting, protective sleeve? I have a feeling the thing will overheat from general usage that way, let alone doing heavy image editing, if it even fits in the case.
Does anyone have any opinions on sleeves vs hardcovers, or any good experiences with cases/sleeves? I have researched for days and am coming up empty.
