My friend has a rmbp 15 and his screen looks bigger or wider than my cmbp 15. But how is it possible? Both machines have 15.4 inch display and aspect ratio of 16:10.. Only difference is the density of the pixel on rmbp is higher.. The more I look at the rmbp 15 the more I believe it has a screen ratio of 16:9.. What do you guys think?

The bezel thickness is causing you to change the way you perceive the screens?

Something like those optical illusions in the childrens books where one stick can be longer than the other.

There is certainly an illusion of it because of the thinner bezel on the rMBP when the machines are side by side. Keep in mind that the dimensions of the rMBP have been reduced compared to the cMBP, so there is likely not an actual difference.

The two displays have the same physical size, and same 16:10 ratio.

cMBP : 1440 x 900 px, at 110 ppi

rMBP : 2880 x 1800 px, at 220 ppi.

though the devices themselves:

13 cMBP : Width: 32.5 cm Depth: 22.7 cm

13 rMBP : Width: 31.4 cm Depth: 21.9 cm

and

15 cMBP : Width: 36.4 cm Depth: 24.9 cm

15 rMBP : Width: 35.89 cm Depth: 24.71 cm

(same size screen in a smaller body) along with the bezel could be the cause

Thanks for the info. I guess I know why the screen looks bigger on rmbp now and we can close this thread:)
