I want to buy a first-generation Dream Color for amateur (as favors for friends) color grading and for my day job (vfx comp). I hear it is better than the new ones. :)

The dream engine requires HDMI in to be progressive RGB. My blackmagic intensity box outputs YUV. :(

Is the HDMI port on the rMBP pro "baked" with any weird color settings I can't trust or is it okay for color grading (via Apple Color and Resolve)?

I would use a software "hack" or HDMI to DVI cable to force RGB rather than YUV. Thanks.
