I want to buy a first-generation Dream Color for amateur (as favors for friends) color grading and for my day job (vfx comp). I hear it is better than the new ones.
The dream engine requires HDMI in to be progressive RGB. My blackmagic intensity box outputs YUV.
Is the HDMI port on the rMBP pro "baked" with any weird color settings I can't trust or is it okay for color grading (via Apple Color and Resolve)?
I would use a software "hack" or HDMI to DVI cable to force RGB rather than YUV. Thanks.
