Hi, I am just wondering if this is normal?
I have the 15" rMBP, 2.5GHz, 16Gb, GeForce 750M and when I use Photoshop to edit large scanned files, the mac is fine.
However, when I launch one of these large files (15000x5000 pixels / 600MB opened) into the Topaz DeNoise 5 plugin in Photoshop and set the file to process, the temperature jumps up very quickly to the 85-90C region and then gradually up to around 98/99.
The fans wind up to around 5900/6100 rpm to keep the mac cool. The processing takes 3-4 minutes tops but I am concerned that the program will shorten the life of the mac or it's components / fans etc. iStats shows all 4 cores working to process the files.
To compare, I played Half Life 2 at pretty high graphics levels and the fans never came on noisy once.
Am I worrying about nothing? Do any of you guys use noise reduction software and find it is very cpu intensive?
Thanks in advance.
Mark.
