Hello.
So I think I discovered a new "apple display issue". I've looked around and found nothing like it.
I have this brand-new rMBP mid 2015 15". When the brightness is over 12/16 bars and when the screen is pure black (or when there are black bar on the top of a movie), it becomes noticeable in the upper left side a strong green cast, and in the upper right side, a red cast. And in the black bar in the bottom, it is the complete opposite. Right side shows red and left side shows green.
I can only seem to perceive the issue when the color is black. Full white screen does not exhibit it.
Can you guys test this on yours, preferably mid 2015 retinas? Though 2013, 2014 and 2016 displays wouldn't hurt either.
Just go to this website, http://whitedisplay.com/, hit the color black and raise the brightness to the maximum, 16/16. Go to a place with dim lighting, doesn't need to be pitch black, and observe (that's good for spotting backlight bleeding too). Please report back with your findings.
I wouldn't want this to be "by design" but the symmetry between the colors got my attention. Maybe it's normal?
