Hello.

So I think I discovered a new "apple display issue". I've looked around and found nothing like it.

I have this brand-new rMBP mid 2015 15". When the brightness is over 12/16 bars and when the screen is pure black (or when there are black bar on the top of a movie), it becomes noticeable in the upper left side a strong green cast, and in the upper right side, a red cast. And in the black bar in the bottom, it is the complete opposite. Right side shows red and left side shows green.

I can only seem to perceive the issue when the color is black. Full white screen does not exhibit it.

Can you guys test this on yours, preferably mid 2015 retinas? Though 2013, 2014 and 2016 displays wouldn't hurt either.

Just go to this website, http://whitedisplay.com/, hit the color black and raise the brightness to the maximum, 16/16. Go to a place with dim lighting, doesn't need to be pitch black, and observe (that's good for spotting backlight bleeding too). Please report back with your findings.

I wouldn't want this to be "by design" but the symmetry between the colors got my attention. Maybe it's normal?

Thanks for the link. I've been looking for something like that.

Not normal. Looks to be a mix of light bleed, and something else. Mine is nearly all black. with very very very minor light bleed on the edges (less than 1mm). 2016 MacBook Pro Touchbar.

Thanks. I too would not expect that, but it is apple, they fix one thing and break the other. They might have fixed this in the 2016 but brought up color uniformity issues that were consistently gone in the 2015.

Lets hope mire people chime in.

I just set my screen background to black and it was solid black. It was also solid black with the website. No color casts.

I suggest you take you machine in.

You raised the brightness up to 16/16 too?

Yeah, sorry, it is actually 16/16 levels of brightness. Okay you went all the day and completely black. Damn!

Can you tell me which model yours display is? A02E or A02F?

How do I get the display model? I did not see it in the System Report

Go to displays, then color profile. Select the regular Color LCD and scroll down to the last option at the bottom. Model and maker, something like that.

Thanks mine is the same. I was so happy the display was perfect in every other way until I saw this.

Does yours have any sort of other issues? Like color gradients or clouding?

I see that you have IPS glow + backlight bleeding issue... If it is a problem you can ask Apple to replace it.

Not really. The screen is very nice and enjoyable to use.

But, most of time when I do anything serious on video or photography I use one of Windows deskside computers with multiple monitors, faster drive, more memory, faster CPUs, etc. So my usage for the MBP is more on the go, rather than spending hour after hour doing intensive work staring at the great, but small, retina display.

I'm not quite sure what is happened with it. If it weren't for the colors, I wouldn't call that a light bleed. The screen is consistently sealed but at full brightness + camera exposure, I don't think one could expect a full black look.

Definitely not ips glow too as it doesn't change when I shift angles.
