How effectively fast is it to run a VM on an external hard drive and mount it on mac.How is the performance.I am getting an RMBP but the price difference is like 300$ if i have to add an 512 SSD. So already I have a 1TB external HD planning to hook it up to my new mac.By how would the performance differe:rolleyes:
 
if your drive is USB 3 its not going to make a big difference, there is going to be upwards and downwards spikes, due to the the nature or usb.

However if you are buying in the US I would take a look at other places than apple, macmall is having a great promotion now
