rMBP - strange smudges on the screen?

Hello,
Today I noticed some screen flaws on my new rMBP.

They look like grey smudges in the middle of the screen when I look directly and they get white (sort of like one layer of protection is scratched off) when looking from an angle. I attach a photo - anybody can tell me what it might be and if there is any chance of getting rid of it without replacing the machine again?

I suspected some pressure-marks but from the side it looks more like something is missing...

I'm seeing it. It looks like a pressure mark unfortunately and there's no way, as far as I know, of fixing it without replacing the screen - something that I don't even know if Apple will do for the rMBP.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I marked it on the edited photo. You have to look carefuly, two white smudges...

Looks like some other folks were looking in that area. And I agree, they do look like pressure marks. If you think they're noticeable during normal use, I'd ask Apple to exchange it or replace the display.

Thanks, I think I have to. Unfortunately im from Poland and we have here NO Retail Apple Stores, no Genius Bars. Only option is fighting the Apple Online Store for replacement or sending the computer in for repair - which takes a week at least...

They may very well dispatch another to collect yours and drop off the new on the same day - I did this a few years ago with the black MacBook (however we now have an Apple retail store so now I can go back).

Regardless, you get a 14 day satisfaction trial - if it isn't what you expect (and for £1800+ I'd want perfection) then ask for a replacement. You might have to wait for stock but I'd rather get another than live with that.

I called the Sales Support which redirected me to Technical Support. Technical Support is a complete waste of time, they always make me Reboot in Safe Mode or clear the cache memory. Finally I had to take photos of the issue and send it to them for 'revision'. I found it outrageous - I have a brand new machine and it's faulty - they should take my word for it. Why else would I want to replace it after 1 day?

Just call them to say you want to return it.

Yup, don't settle for that BS. Say you aren't happy being called a liar - if you aren't happy with it for ANY REASON WHAT SO EVER you can return it. Failing their lack of support for an exchange, send it back for a full refund, then re order another :)
 
whoa what? I have a smudge from factory, I thought it was just factory worker's hand print. Haven't cleaned it yet, going to have to tonight to make sure I don't have this!

So, my beautiful (except for the smudges) Samsung Retina was sent today back and another (2nd) replacement is on the way from China. However, it's getting harder to get the replacement after the 1st one. This time it took 5 days and many minutes on the phone, sending photos of the problem etc. untill they agreed to send another machine...Wonder if there is any limit of replacements, one person can have?

I had 4 iPad 2's before I was happy with one, then returned it for a refund anyway and waited for the retina one lol.

Probably being reluctant because they are so expensive, but well done for persevering :)

My very first return was difficult, which is crazy. I didn't want to straight up return because I'd purchased it on a tax-free holiday so it would have been an automatic $200+ loss for me to do so.

Unfortunately the second one came with image retention right out of the box and it's not getting better so I'm about to head in a different direction.
