rMBP to external monitor (1440x900)

I have an external monitor that maxes out at 1440x900 (I like to use this res for BF3). If I connect the rMBP to this monitor, everything will display at 1440x900 right?

Yes. And if you use display mirroring mode, everything will be mirrored, but still rendered in hidpi on the internal display
