What's your average battery life with your Retina Macbook Pro 15"?

Do you have the discreet graphics card? What's the details of your machine?

A brand new rMBP pro

Hi,

I'm very disappointed with the macbook pro 15" battery lifetime. I had high expectations after upgrading from my macbook air 2011 which i had about 3-4 hours battery lifetime.

Usually i have 3 different estimations: 3, 4 and 5 hour. i don't know which is causing these differences but are far away from the 9 hours apple says.

I work in email, excel, powerpoint most of the times but sometimes i have reports that Powerpoint is consuming battery (when i'm not working in it).

Since this is a brand new macbook pro (less than 2 weeks) i'm only using it with yosemite so i don't know if this is a OS X problem.

The 15" only gets 8 hours according to Apple, also try forcing the machine to use only the integrated GPU and see what you get

----------

I have the base model with Iris graphics

Open Activity Monitor from Utilities and click the Energy tab, see whats eating all your power

You guys are aware, that battery life depends on a variety of factors. one of the biggest and most obvious being brightness.
Just asking how much someone gets is completely pointless.

I get 7 hours at full brightness.

I'm not a fan of the energy display tab on Activity Monitor. CPU usage for me is the most interesting and relevant.

Well it shows Firefox as the biggest usage followed by Safari in the last 24 hours.

Exactly. Too many differentiating factors.

Completely agree!
