rMPB strange HDMI issues

Right, here's a weird one.

I've noticed recently that when I have an external monitor (any monitor) plugged into my rMPB 15" via HDMI, the monitor turns off intermittently for about 5 seconds... usually once or twice an hour.

I could live with that... But I just noticed that when I touch the MBP body with a USB cable, my speakers crackle and the screen plugged into the HDMI port goes black. As soon as I move the USB cable away from the laptop, the screen turns back on. Doesn't happen every time though.

Seems bizarre to me. Any thoughts? Really don't want to have to send it away for repair as my job/income depends on it.

Sounds like a grounding issue. Are you using the "short" magsafe plug, or the long one.

I'm using the one that came with it.. the new one I think. Not the old L shaped one.
