I currently have 3 pieces of hardware: nMP, Drobo 5D and 2-drive array set to JBOD.
The nMP Macintosh HD contains applications, VMs and my docs, the Drobo contains iPhoto, iTunes and iMovie libraries.
It's pretty simple: one drive in the 2-drive array is a TM drive that backs up contents of BOTH the Macintosh HD and Drobo. The other drive is used for nightly CCC backups so I have a bootable drive (should the Macintosh HD fail).
Right now I have SEVERE TM reliability issues that I'm nearly positive stem from the Drobo. Nearly once a week the backup process hangs never completing. The only solution (it works 100% of the time) is to delete the .InProgress file on the TM drive, eject the TM drive and the Drobo, shut both down and restart.
Does anyone else have reliability issues using TM with a NAS? Or, with a Drobo?
I'm really getting tired of the whole, delete the files, eject the drives and restart process. Can anyone recommend a rock solid solid solution?
