Hi - have a late 2005 PMG5 dual 2.3 running OS X Server 10.5.8.
Put a Highpoint RocketRaid 3520 into it, the card works fine (albeit not without a little fiddling on the install), but with the card installed, all the ethernet ports die ("cable disconnected" in Network prefs). Card has the latest firmware that I can find (1.3.43.8), and latest drivers (1.3.2)
Uninstalled the 3520 drivers, same problem.
Removed the card, ethernet works fine again - seems to be a hardware conflict of some kind (ethernet ports are on the PCI bus also).
Digging through the 3520 drivers I find this:
"Known Problem * RR3520/3510 RAID controller has conflict with the enternet on PowerMac G5"
Very interesting since it is listed as being specifically compatible:
http://www.hptmac.com/US/categories.php?compatibility=3
So question is - does anyone else have this issue? Has older/newer firmware/drivers resolved it? I emailed Highpoint but no response yet.
Only other option seems to be to install a NIC card, but I suppose there is a chance of that not working as well...
