My saga continues with my fan going rogue on my 13" 2013 rMBP. It happens only when the machine is on, idle, and with the lid closed. 6200 rpm which does not quit until I do a complete shutdown. I'm baffled. Phone support with Apple has not helped with this issue. Tried doing the option-command, R, P key thingy (NVRAM) which did not help. Could the issue be related some how to spiking in my internet connection? Problem only occurs when the machine is on and idle. Thanks.

Don't relish taking the thing in. Always a privacy concern for me. Never had a single problem with an Apple product before this one. What might they possibly do to fix it? Everything else on the machine is working fine.

My historic rogue fan issue was caused by a swollen battery that had to be replaced through Apple Care. The top case was replaced and the fan is now normal.
