I recently created and now boot my 2012 21.5 iMac from an external SSD. Everything works fine. I would like to see if it is possible to now roll back the o/s that is on the internal hd from Catalina to Mojave. The reason for this is that I have quite a few 32 bit programs that I would like to run. If anyone can point me towards a source that outlines if and how that's done, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks---John

this is easy with a time machine back up of Mojave
just plug that external hard drive into the iMac and press option while rebooting, before the apple chime
you could partition your hard drive for both OSXs as well
again, back up this version of Catalina on a hard drive when you to use that OSX in the future.

If you did not back up the iMac with Mojave, someone else here can guide you through how to do that reinstall.

-hoped this helped!
