I feel like I haven’t seen any discussion around just how poorly implemented the “Rolodex” style animation feels for iOS 16’s notifications, particularly if you change the default “stack” view back to “list”. They are constantly bouncing around in a glitchy way, partially covering each other without enough contrast to avoid looking like a single malformed blurb ( ) and sort of falling “behind” each other in a visually nightmarish fashion ( )

Everyone seems pretty hyped that they no longer eat up your entire Lock Screen if you don’t want them to, which is indeed nice, but the current implementation feels so half-baked that I’m surprised the usual suspects aren’t up in arms. An easy solution would be to ditch the Rolodex and just let them be uniform again.

Is anyone else frustrated by them? Any missing settings I’m not aware of to tame the madness?

It mildly irritates me. But not enough to where I care anymore that waiting a few versions of iOS for notifications ho change once more. I do see it as a downgrade though. I don’t get a lot of notifications. Just let me see them easily

I’m sure it won’t stay this way long because of how glaringly broken it often looks. But that same surface-level, obvious brokenness is what makes me amazed that it shipped like this in the first place.
