I just receive a roocase iPad air origami case in blue from amazon and I love the color. The functionality is awesome! It has sleep wake feature, the smart cover can be folded to various positions in landscape or portrait. To me, it's a better valued case than apple's smart case. It doesn't make my iPad heavy and it has adequate protection. Check out my pictures!

9 oz is a monster of a case. For reference. Apple iPad case is 5oz. Average Amazon light case is about 7oz.
Apple smart cover is about 3.5 oz

No need to be defensive. U mention 9oz before. 7.1 oz is not bad. Definitely better than 9oz

No worries dude. I just went by amazon's listing of 9 oz. after I read your post, I want to know exactly how heavy is this monster! Lol. So 7.1 oz and saves me monies! Lol

Not sure you saw my question about holding up on lap or reading in bed?

Sorry for being a PITA.

Oops. Ok
It holds well if you have it on type view. If you have it standing in landscape or portrait, and unless you hold still and not move, it will hold.

I ordered mine well over a week ago. I think it was Tue... still hasn't shown up. Got a red and a black one for 10 bucks total shipped... if I ever get them... Not liking the seller at this point... and my tracking says "not found"... :-/

roo and MoKoo for iPad Air

Have both and each are good. The roo feels lighter and reminiscent of the Apple case with a rigid back cover. The roo is more slick while the McKoo is more substantial and less likely to slip from your hands. Both seem good and will experiment with both.

I bought this case in black. Extremely pleased with the quality of the fit around the iPad. It seems to be lighter than the SMART CASE, too.

The poster above who compared it to the SMART COVER isn't being fair, IMHO.

I also think the fit on the iPad for the rooCASE beats the Smart Case as well. The Smart Case is very dumpy and I was surprised after having bought a brown one. For $79 it is complete trash.

I got mine today. Tried the red one out. Not a huge fan of it. I love the cover but I hate the back. I have a clear skin on the back of my ipad and it looks fantastic with the space gray. I prefer the red Smart Cover I bought previously. Even being 8x the price of the Roo case.

Thanks for the review and pictures. I'm returning my Anker case because of the heft, 11oz.
I'll add this to my collection and give it a try.

What do you not like about the back specifically, I'm curious..

The Smart Cover is ok. I think the 4 panel Smart Cover for previous iPads was better. However, the smart case is pretty bad. How do they even justify having a strip sticking out the right side instead of being flush with the iPad body? Just lazy design work..

Can you post a pic if the inside of the case?

Does it scratch the ipad in any way? What about the edges?

One thing about the Roocase is that there are no magnets in the cover that keep it in the rolled-up tri-fold position.
It can still be used this way but it relies on the weight of the iPad itself to stay rolled up.
I personally would have preferred some magnets.
There are magnets, though, for the v-fold origami position.
Also, they say that the cover is PU leather but there's nothing even remotely leathery about it. No imitation grain or anything.
My last case was the Marware Microshell Folio and the cover very much reminds me of that one.
I personally like it but I do think they should be more honest in their advertising.

PU is polyurethane so I don't think they're claim to be real leather, but at this price point it's an excellent case.

I received mine in the mail today am very pleased with quality and construction. The back shell has a soft rubberized feel and fits spot on with all ports align anf front cover is smooth Pu finish.

Obviously but while I can also buy a polyurethane garden hose I wouldn't expect the hose manufacturer to describe it as being PU leather.
PU leather means fake leather.
It's polyurethane disguised as leather.
But that's just it about the Roocase -- it isn't disguised as leather.
It's a simple clean honest sheet of polyurethane.
Why they felt the need to dress it up with the false (and to me deceptive) leather claim I just don't get.

You have a good point and looking at other cases on amazon alot of them mention Pu leather which I guess is a common practice. But look on the bright side at least no cows were harmed and that would please PeTA

I have the black one and this is the only negative that keeps me from using the case full-time. Currently using the poetic Slimline but will use the roocase when i need the stand feature say on a long flight.
