Roommate killed my apple tv!

my :apple:TV remote doesnt work any more. my roommate said he push the menu+play buttons to shut it off..... i told him to turn it off when he leaves for the weekends and stuff. but i also told him off was the play button only.... moron. any ways. now i have no control over my :apple:TV i have another remote for my iMac. but that one doesn't work either. i tired pulling the plug for a day and no luck. i tried all the key combos i could thing of but the only thing that happens is the little light go amber and then back to white. heck i even tried plugin my keyboard into.... any one got any ideas?
 
FYI the only way to turn the :apple:TV off is by unplugging it. Anything else will only put it into standby.

Kill your roommate?

Sounds like your remote somehow got "unpaired". I would read up here...Apple Support

lol no he doenst have a gf lol. to much of a loser!
i tired to read the pairing but..... I have no control of the :apple:TV and i know the only way to shut it off is unplug it but i figured at least put it to sleep to save some power. i try to cut back as much as i can.
so any one else got some other ideas?
PS im already kicking him out before this happened.... he broke as a joke!
does any one know of a hidden hard reset button?
 
this is dumb. this is a copy from the apple troubleshooting page

If you can see a picture but Apple TV isn't responding
-If the Apple TV status light does not flash white when you press a remote button, the issue may be with the remote. See "If the remote isn't working".
-Press and hold Menu on the Apple Remote to return to the Apple TV main menu. CANT CONTROL THE APPLE TV AT ALL!!
-Reset Apple TV by unplugging it from the power outlet, waiting about five seconds, then plugging it in again. DID THIS FOR A DAY!!!
-Power off your TV, wait five seconds, power on.
-Make sure your TV is functioning correctly. See the documentation that came with your TV for more information.
-If you paired the Apple Remote with Apple TV, make sure you're using the paired remote. Go here to read more about pairing and unpairing your Apple Remote.
-If Apple TV remains unresponsive, you may need to try running diagnostics or performing a factory restore.
 
-no matter what i do the little white light go amber then back to white.
-i know my remotes work because both of them control my iMac.
-i tried the Next+menu for 6 seconds and all i got was and amber light at the end of the 6 seconds and nothing.
 
FIXED!!!

Menu+Rewind for 6 seconds

just had to find the right docs.
thanks guys for putting up with me
