I just created a little USB stick with a recovery partition on it that I extracted from my El Capitan 10.11.2 install. To test it I booted in recovery mode using the USB stick and then disabled rootless/SIP so it's like an "old fashioned" drive. On reboot, maybe it's my imagination, but it seemed to boot a lot faster...like maybe half as long as it was taking with rootless mode enabled.

Anyone else see any performance changes with rootless enabled or disabled?

SIP keeps system files from being modified, changed, removed, etc. no reason it should have any effect on booting speed...
