Rose Gold the worst option if planning to use different watch bands?

Pre-ordered a rose gold now but thinking to cancel and go for a silver. It's a gift for the missus. She's definitely the sort to hunt down accessories and would likely end up going for some posh leather straps. Sort of thing Hermes would do.

Thinking the rose gold would clash with most colours and plain silver would be best.

Or does it still look good, any ideas?

Originally got my wife the stainless steel original watch in 2015, mostly so she could pair it with more dressy bands as needed. When the Series 2 launched she fell in love with rose gold and has been using that for a year with many different bands, including a handful of 3rd party ones. I'm always impressed how she manages to dress up the rose gold with all sorts of different outfits and colours. I say stick with it.

I think Rose Gold is still a great color option. And if your wife has the eye for customization, I'm sure she will find plenty of bands that will pair well with the specific color. Especially leather bands that would look nice.

Is it a rose gold or the new gold (S3)? The new gold is somewhere in between the old gold and rose gold colours. I love the colour on the iPhone 8 but I bought a silver S3 watch yesterday. I looked at the gold in the Apple store and just didn't feel it would pair well with different colours. I should add that I have a thing about color combinations, they really have to be just right for me and I'm usually not one to like gold colours. I have seen some beautiful combinations with the rose gold and I'm sure there are many nice combinations (midnight blue is one I've seen that is really nice) to make with the new gold but personally I felt I'd be too limited. I already didn't like the combinations on display in the apple store, the colours of the Apple bands are too bright in my opinion to pair well with the new gold colour.

So I would let your choice depend mostly on if she's someone who would really like that gold color and will find good combinations or if she really wants to be able to pair it with almost anything.

Black bands pair great with the gold watch so it depends on color profile you are looking for.

Lol just counted my wife's collection, she has 23 bands right now. Many are 3rd party. I've seen her do a lot of different combinations. Always dresses up well. The new Gold looks so good too.

But at the end of the day it's a colour choice. Very personal and subjective for everyone.

It's not really Rose Gold. You can tell especially if you hold a Rose Gold phone next to the gold Apple Watch.
