Hi
I recently upgraded my wireless network to 'n' 5ghz and am getting decent speed to a ntfs windows share but the speed is not as great as I'd hoped.
For large file transfers I'm getting 7MB/s max which works out to ~56Mb/s on a 300Mb/s clean connection.
Now I realize there is overhead and practical never meets theoretical etc but my primary question is what would my speed increase to the server be if I got a NAS that hosts via NFS instead of a windows desktop via SMB. I've struggled with crap windows file share performance to LINUX for years but never really proved protocol was the problem but am thinking of dropping several hundred on a NAS to see if NFS sharing if much better so am looking for feedback.
Thx
