So ever since upgrading to Lion I've barely gotten 3-4 hours out of my 2 month old 2011 MBP 13" :( In SL I was getting roughly the 7 hours Apple claim [One of the main reasons I bought it]. Anyone got the same or any solutions? Maybe a fresh install would do it?

Just to add to that, I've just used 50% in little over 1:30 hours while surfing the web :/

I'm getting terrible battery life on my late 2010 13" MBP. I mean BAD. I used to get pretty close to the 6 hour mark (maybe 5 if I was watching videos or something). I'm at 20% now after 2:40.

I'm thinking I need to go back to Snow Leopard. Lion is Apple's answer to Windows Vista.

I am experiencing the same huge dip in battery life since updating to Lion.

I'm probably going to upgrade my OS from Lion to Snow Leopard sometime this weekend.

Battery run time on my 2011 MBP with Lion is the same as it was with SL. Not sure why all of you are having issues.

Is your brightness set too high?

Getting the 7 hours here on mba 2011

You sure it isn't indexing, mdworker thread running?

I remember reading one of the reviews of Lion where a 20% reduction in battery life with the Core 2 Duo processors was noted but couldn't pinpoint the cause. The current Sandy Bridge models weren't affected. The loss of CoolBook undervolting functionality in Lion has also been a major factor in reduced battery endurance. My MacBook Pro 13" endurance dropped from 8 -9 hours to 5 or 6 at most following the clean installation of 10.7, so I've gone back to Snow Leopard for now.

That said, I suspect that 10.7.2 will bring improvements, since the Intel power management kernel extensions have been updated.

I always get 4 hours after the install of Lion but I just did the SMC reset and my battery keeps jumping back and forth from 6 to 7 hours. Did this really helped my battery life?

I've got the latest rev MBP 15", purchased a few months ago, lost half my battery life. I figured it was the video card not switching properly. but downloaded that card app and that's not the issue.

I get around 6-7 hours on my 2011 15" MacBook Pro on Lion while browsing the web, watching videos, and other light activities with the integrated GPU forced.

Since installing Lion on my base 2011 15" MBP I've also noticed a significant reduction in battery life.

which app, please?

Glad I'm not the only one then :D

I can rule out graphics card switching problems as the 13" 2011 only has the intel graphics chip.

Might install 10.7.2 alongside what I have already to see if there is any difference.

Done lots of SMC resets, no difference. Brightness is only on about 1/4 if that. If I can't get it sorted soon I will go to the store and see what they can do (if anything). I wonder if the 2011 MBPs with Lion preinstalled have the same problems?

I tried it all. SMC didn't help. Finally I read up and decided to give the PRAM a reset. Fixed it. I'm happy. Finally.

Since I upgraded to Lion [Late 09 MBP], I haven't really noticed any battery drainage.

Should I just reset PRAM and SMC just for the heck of it?

Seems like most of the people who upgraded are having battery issues while the ones who purchased new computers are not.

It is pretty awful.

I use a mid 2010 MacBook Pro and this issue has seriously destroyed my battery life.

The RAM usage rockets up when you scroll and my battery performance has reduced by more than half.

The major concern that I have, is my battery condition as a result - it has gone from 94% down to 86% since installing Lion and my cycle count is flying up as I am having to charge it all of the time.

This is very disappointing.

I am experiencing horrible battery life also. I have the early 2011 i7 MBP and holy cow my battery drains within a couple hours. I used to be able to last 5-6 hours and now it lasts about 2 hours. I feel like i have to constantly recharge...will try resetting PRAM and SMC
