Ruh-roh activating new iPhone 4

My iPhone 4 is "stuck" on the Apple logo. I've fully charged it and turned it on/off a few times now but its stuck on the Apple icon.

So I plugged it into iTunes and it keeps trying to sync with it as if its my OLD 3G. In fact, its now sporting my old 3G's wallpaper but the syncing stopped halfway through trying to install apps. But if I disconnect, it goes back to the Apple logo.

Any ideas? How do I get back to "virgin" to start the process over? From what I recall, I should be seeing the "plug me into iTunes" screen on this thing and I'm not?

try this:

1) Press and Hold buttons sleep + home untill iPhone turns off then release both buttons
2) Open iTunes;
3) Press and Hold home button and plug the phone to your computer. The phone will turn on and the iTunes + Arrow + cable screen will appear.;
4) iTunes will recover you phone from unsuccessful recovery process.

I just saw that on Apples forums, but that worked. Its up and running fine now, fully activated. Just did my first Facetime call with it. Pretty cool!
