It all seems to be coming together. First Schmidt leaves apples board of directors for conflicts of interest, then google start scanning massive amounts of books to put online, rumours peg apple as developing a rival to the Kindle. I suspect that this was a driving force behind Schmidt's resignation, and that apples tablet will be a kind of ipod for e-books, amongst other things of course.
