I've been following the various response threads following WWDC22, and I've been comparing what we actually got to what the various published rumours suggested we might be going to get.

I realise this place is a rumour site first and foremost, but I sometimes think it can set people up for just a very big fall. People get whipped into a frenzy by the so-called 'leaks' and 'renders' from 'reputable insiders' regarding just-around-the-corner tech which will change their lives, instead of treating it with a sizeable dose of salt. Then when the genuine announcements finally come from Apple, and people find them spectacularly underwhelming compared to what the leakers were 'almost sure is coming'.

What's your opinion?

MacRumors isn't just about the rumors. I signed up in 2011 because there's an active PowerPC Mac community. And as of earlier this year we Early Intel Mac owners got an Early Intel Mac forum as well. That's why I'm here. I'm typing this on an Early 2009 MacPro BTW.

There also a Classic Mac community here. I have an iPhone so I do go in the iPhone forum, but I'm generally a model or two behind so rumors don't really affect me.

Not a lot that isn't known about the Macs from 1999 to about 2012 or so.

Apple was startup for many years! However in late 90s through the start of 21 Century Apple (Steve) went to other Internet of music.video/cell phones eras and became huge! Take that as well as many old users remember the dark days when Apple was almost bankrupt! Until a restaurant server told a story in this poss restaurant Steve and Bill Gates had meal and two months later Apple bought next and rest is the DotCom comeback of Steve to Apple and Microsoft Government case fell apart when Apple dropped the Quicktime portion of the Government case against Microsoft and Bill appeared to shocked MacWorld event! That's why Mac rumors along with old Time Old Mac Heads changed and started posing Apple! It was prime time for MacRumors to peak and Steve shut down the competition to Mac Rumors !

It makes no difference since there are "all kinds of rumors" on the internet: Macrumors, PC rumors, Canon Rumors, Nikon Rumors, and so on. There is a MacRumors at "youtube" (no idea if it is Macrumors or not). Then, "Mac OS Rumors", and "Mac Rumors," plus a few other "rumors" :) People perceive "rumors" as forecasts of future technological advancements or features.
