macOS Run AppleScript on application activation

Hello,

I'm rather new to AppleScript and I couldn't find anything about what I want to do.

What I want is for example, if I click on a dock icon such as the finder app that it runs an Applescript. I'm not really sure if this is possible but if it is could someone help me with it?
