Hello,
I have a iPhone 4 on 4.0.1 with 1.59 baseband jailbroken and unlocked. I'd like to do a fresh 4.0.1 restore and redo the JB/unlock, but noticed the SHSH blobs for 4.0.1 are not being saved in tinyumbrella (it's saved 4.0.2 to 4.3.3 but not 4.0.1?).
I'd hate to do something wrong and end up loosing the baseband and update the OS. Can anyone help/advise on how to do a fresh 4.0.1 restore?

Thank you!

you can preserve you baseband if you do it correctly and move the firmwre to anything you have the blobs for or even the current 5.0

does cydia show your 4.0.1 blobs at the top of the home cydia screen?

If you don't have the SHSHs for 4.0.1, and Tiny Umbrella don't have it then you can't do a restore to that, you can only restore to the SHSHs you have.

Cydia home screen is the same as tinyumbrella, showing 4.0.2 to 4.3.3.

I am trying to stay with 4.0.1 because my 3GS has worked flawlessly for over a year (except for the home button which recently has started not responding intermittently, requiring a reboot).

I know I can go up to 4.3.3 and keep the JB untethered, are there any downsides to going up to 4.3.3?

Apple aren't signing 4.0.1 anymore so Tiny Umbrella wont save them, what I had to do was use a program called iFaith, what this does is it dumps the SHSH blobs from the device saves them and creates a signed firmware of 4.0.1, just shift restore and away you go. Tutorial here

thats odd that cydia didnt save your 4.0.1 if your jailbroken on that firmware, unless you jailbroke after 4.0.2 was released than i guess it never had a chance to save them becasue appple was not signing them anymore

Thank you! It worked like a charm.
