Is there such an app for the MBP that lets you run tests on how long a battery lasts on normal circumstances?

I know usage is variable, but a standardized (if there are any) tests would really help.

How old is the MBP out of curiosity? If it's new I know rechargeable batteries tend to need a few cycles before they will perform optimally. I assume that's the case even with the newest generation of batteries.

It's about 9 months old. I'm curious to find out because I just put in a new 7200RPM drive and disabled the drives power management (it was making clicking noises). It says 4:24hr on a full charge right now.

Honestly, I don't know of any tests. But there will be no better test than you using it without it being plugged in. :) And then time it, yourself. That's my best solution for you.

You can even get better stats because you can sleep it, record how long it was sleeping, etc. etc. so you know your total usage.

Just use it till the battery dies and record the uptime from that.
