Today I ran a vpn for work for an hour via Parallels on a 2012 13" i5/4/256. I dedicated 2gb to it and the activity monitor said I had only 228mb or so of free memory out of 4gb and page out was 728kb. I used boot camp and it ran as well as it could possibly run but in Parallels, there was some slowdown when I opened up a word and excel document.

Would upgrading to the i7 and 8gb of ram make a difference when using parallel? Using boot camp was fine but parallels felt like it hiccuped.

I was hoping the hiccup was just a function of parallels but maybe it wasn't. I got a great deal at best buy and it's a shame they don't offer a 13" i7/8/256. I suppose I will have a tough decision on maybe returning my Samsung/Samsung combination for a $300 upgrade that may or may not have an LG panel.
