Running Applications in Their own window

I have a copy of Maelstrom (old game) that works on my iMac, but when I run it, it launches in full screen and I cannot change to any other app. Is there a way I can run it in it's own window?

I'd say no, because the game is older as you mention and may have been designed to run any other way but full screen.

What happens select alt-tab to switch to another program?
