Hey guys, just ordered my MBA with standard settings (128 SSD; 4 GB RAM) and was wondering how Civilization 5 runs on the standard configuration.

I would have gone with the 8 GB RAM upgrade, but I am getting a good deal with Best Buy for $999 instead of the usual $1099. (-$50 for student)

Should I go ahead and get the 8gig for an additional $150?

My priorities are student work, surfing the web on multiple tabs, YouTube, Netflix, lots of torrents, streaming soccer matches, and running strictly one or two games only like Civilization 5.

getting 8 gb ram is recommended if you will run those apps at the same time., although I'll recommend the 256 ssd more.

Civ 5 runs fine on the 2013 macbook air on default settings. fans spin heavily, of course. But the experience is great, although you will wait for a little bit for computer's turns later in the game, starting about 250th or 300th+ turn. (Standard Game Speed)

You might also want to consider the 13" rmbp.
