The 4GB of Mushkin memory that I ordered from NewEgg arrived today, so I immediately swapped the one stick of 1GB that was in the MacBook with 2x2GB sticks. Ever since the underside of the MacBook has been much hotter than they usually are. I'm not really sure if its the RAM, or if I'm just being paranoid, but now there are moments when I can't even put it on my lap (I've never had this problem before).

I'm not really doing anything that requires a lot of RAM yet. I opened PhotoShop to check it out, but I quit it hours ago. Right now I have Safari, Mail, Adium, and iTunes opened.

Can the RAM make the system hotter or am I just being paranoid?

What are your actual temps right now?

About 60ºC, but it is usually around 50ºC. I've been very lucky with this MacBook; my old one was always pretty hot and the fans got pretty loud, but this one has been great up until today. (The fans are still quiet however.)

Mine stays around there as well. With 10.5.3 I was at about 140 to 145 F.

With 10.5.4, I've noticed that I have been around 125 to 135 F.

My airport card is always about 15 F higher than that.
