Someone told me that the newest edition of OS X will allow you to run iPad apps on your Mac, is that true? I have an estimate/invoice app on my iPad that I really like, but I would prefer to use it on the big screen computer with a keyboard and mouse.

It's not true, at least not exactly. Apple's announced that the feature is coming next year, but it will require the developer of the app to "opt in" and add Mac support.
