How do I know if it is running if I cannot access it? It looks like your Java install (or at least the pref pane) is corrupted. Try this... open System Prefs and right click on the Java prefer pane and remove it. Then go here and DL then install the newest version.

Try clicking that missing plugin icon and giving it permission to check your machine. Either way, I would delete and update like I mentioned since it looks like your install is borked.

I suppose updating it may help anyways?

Click to expand... Yes.... just DL and install the update over top and that should fix it. If it does not, try deleting the file JavaAppletPlugin.plugin from the folder below then reinstall Java. To get there open Finder then click the Go menu the Go to folder and paste this path in then hit enter. Code: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
