Hey! I need some guidance here as I couldn't find any help by searching in google. So I am a new mac user (10.7.2) and I was wondering how to enable the tap-to-click instead of the current settings i have, which is pressing the trackpad. The trackpad preferences is entirely different from the previous versions and there is no checkbox to disable to pressing of trackpad.

Thank you!

hi thanks for helping but that is not what I wanted T_T i do not want to press down on the trackpad every time i click... And when i uncheck the box in system pref for "Tap-to-Click" I can't even tap on any buttons...

settings > trackpad > point & click

first checkbox is the one you are looking for

That is the one which i had problems with ^

When i check the box, i need to press down the trackpad to click something.
When i uncheck the box, there is no way i can click anything.

I just want a light tap on the trackpad to click... :(

something sounds seriously b0rked then. i would try reinstalling lion. then if i still had problems i'd take it to a service center/apple store (might not hurt to try it with a magic trackpad or something)

what hardware are you using?

You will need to push down to uncheck/check the box but once it is checked the tap to click will be activated!

Are you using a MacBook trackpad or a Magic Trackpad?

Thank you for your replies!
It seems like bringing it to the apple store will save some trouble :p

If not already done so! Try rebooting your MacBook and try again
