Running Party Shuffle from an iPod

i've been charged to "DJ" a wedding reception for a friend, but not really. she's got all the tunes she wants on her iPod. is it possible to plug it into my Mac and use it as a source for Party Shuffle? the idea is to set up a list that can be easily rearranged and whatever on the fly if want to ("play Shout again!!" "no"), but normally will just be left going on it's own with a hefty 2-3 second crossfade. will this work or do i need to get the music off the iPod onto my computer somehow?

You will want to get this music onto a computer. If she already had it on a playlist, she can easily burn an MP3 cd of it for you. Plugging her iPod into your computer could very quickly lead to you erasing every song on it.
