The world of web search is full of references to information about running macOS 15.x Sequoia as a VM in VMWare Fusion. That has absolutely nothing to do with my objectives. Meanwhile, there are no references I can find explaining /the use of VMWare/Broadcom.

I am upgrading 2012 macPro 5.1 from Catalina to Sequoia, with Open Core Legacy Patcher. I need to know what to expect when I start tinkering with f VMWare/Broadcom, making virtual servers

One of the softwares I have immense interest in running in Sequoia is VMWare/Broadcom Fusion. The reason I want it is to run Linux virtual machines on my MacPro with sequoia, similar to what I am running now in Catalina

The purpose of this thread is to get reliable information about what I can expect when i try setting up linux servers in Sequoia with Open. Core and VMWare/Broadcom Fusion

I have a few questions that are simple yes/no type questions. However, I need to verify the answers.

The answer I am hoping for is "YES, VMWare (or Broadcom, who bought VMWare) runs on macpro 5,2 Sequoia/Open Core. I have setup thousands of systems like that, it is no problem at all don't worry about." I doubt that is the answer.

I expect the actual answer is, "I dunno, but I like pretending to know, because I know a lot about these systems so I can get VMWare Fusion running no problem on Open Core Sequoia

SO, MY QUESTIONS ARE:

Has anyone, anywhere, installed VMWare Fusion on 2012 macpro 5,1 MacOS Sequoia and got it running reliably?

Has anyone used VMWare Fusion to build linux servers on For starters,

I am running Linux OS—Debian- and RH-based—for years now on Macs, Parallels and now Fusion as well, with no issues at all; except that for some reason I cannot run Sequoia as a guest VM with native resolution.

What I need to verify is that Sequoia with Open Core on 2012 MacPro 5,1 can run VMWare Fusion, which, in turn, can run Linux OS Debian, RH-based and any other VM that Fusion can run on Sequoia without Open Core, in a Mac which Apple says they still support.

VMware Fusion will not work past Catalina due to HyperVisor changes, Only Parallel Desktop works.
This is specific to the cMP5,1 due to the processor. On the cMP past Catalina you need to use Parallels Desktop as mentioned above.

Thank you for this information. Not what I was hoping for, it should be ok once I get used to the Parallels.
