Hi,
I've been struggling with my Oct 2010 IMac running 10.6.8 for the last few weeks. Processor 2.66GHz Intel Core i5.
4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
I cannot upgrade to the newer OS as I will no longer be able to print to one of my industrial machines. To replace that machine is about 25,000 bucks. I need to keep this old machine running for as long as I can.
The problem began when I moved the computer from one office to another. The new location has a number of electrically powered machines with high voltage. After a few days of struggling I took the computer to my home, ran repair disk and it worked beautifully at my home. I returned it to the office where it worked for about 10 minutes and then the behavior began again.
I finally moved the machine out of that office to another location where it worked beautifully for about a week. Yesterday I noticed another unusual name on the shared list in the finder window, one I had never seen before and I couldn't figure out what it was. No unusual activity on my wifi network. I then began having the spinning beach ball issue again. Maybe this was just a coincidence. I decide to try and hard wire to the network with no difference in operation.
Today I booted into safe mode and the computer is working beautifully, except of course there are some things I can't do because it is in safe mode so I really can't continue with this.
I completed a "diagnostic" from another site but the results are simply gobbelydegoop to me.
this command
syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'GPU D|I/O|nspace-h|n Cause: -|timed? ?o' | tail | open -ef
Gave me these results.

Can anyone enlighten me please?
