Yesterday I was using my Macbook and everything was just fine....

I know for a fact no one has used my macbook since I last used it yesterday.

I just got on it for the first time today and now the s key requires a great amount of force to get it to go all the way down and register as a key press.

Any ideas of what might've happened or how I could possibly get in there and fix it?

Or am I stuck buying a new top case?

You might have something stuck in between the key itself and the keyboard. You can use a plastic guitar pick and pry the "S" key up from the left side or left corner and it should pop-up with very little effort. You could also spray underneath the key with some Gas Duster and that might do the trick. If it continues to be a problem and you are uncertain about prying the key up on your own, take it in to the nearest Apple Store and they should fix it with under warranty. (Most importantly, don't use a screwdriver or metal knife!)

Unfortunately my MacBook is no longer under warranty.

Fortunately i have a few guitar picks in my pocket.

So I'm gonna go give it a shot.

Thank you!
