My S10 stopped keeps charging to 100% for more than a week, i know there isn't a hard limit but the optimized charging should be doing that, it worked from pretty much day one (maybe a few days later).

I know it's supposed to do this every now and then to calibrate, but its been over a week and the charging indicator doesn't have that notch in it where it stops. It does stop at 80% in the evening when its placed on the cradle but then it waits till morning then charges to 100% which I don't want.

I am on latest iPhone and Watch software non beta. Restarted phone and watch. any other ways to fix?

The OS update might have reset things, doublecheck the location settings and give it a few more days

iOS 18.2 / WatchOS 11.2 came out Dec 11, and i'm pretty sure it worked fine after that for at least several days.

It baffles me why things just "break" randomly, like the Unlock my Mac feature. it's been a bane of my existence for as long as the feature has been around, thru multiple watches and Macs and their various software versions.

There was a bug in the beta of watchOS 11.2 where it showed incorrect battery health, don’t know of course any details but they might have changed something with regards to that which in turn might have reset that 80% charging, but I’m speculating.

As for Mac unlock, I’ve had S0/3/4/7/U/U2 and like 5 different Macs, I’ve had issues maybe 4 or 5 times but resolved those within minutes and for me it is very reliable, but there are plenty threads here with issues.

It takes a few weeks of predictable charging and going to bed before it will start the 80% limit. Charging in the middle of the day can interrupt it. I also have an Ultra and of if I wear it for a few days my S10 will stop doing the 80% for a week or two.

My daily schedule has literally been the same for ages. go to sleep between 11pm-midnight and wake up at 7am weekdays and 8am weekends. I'm going to give it more time I guess but the phone seems to do this much less and only for one day where it will charge to 100% every couple weeks or so, then it respects the 80% max charge. Why can't the watch have the same setting where we can limit.

Make sure you have “Significant Locations” turned on. It is normal for you phone to occasionally charge to 100% for battery calibration.

Yeah its on. Always been on.

Its been another week and the watch is still charging till 100%. Probably have to wait until the next updates maybe something will "just fix itself" lol.

Only other thing I can imagine is making sure your daily schedule is the same. Hope is works out.

Yesterday it started working out of the blue, I just put it on the charger and its showing the 80% limit.

I would just love the logic behind Apple's implementation of this. It was at least two weeks without me making any changes to the phone or the watch, and daily schedule being exactly the same.
