Got an S10 and it is real nice on the hardware side, but the original Modular face is pretty long in the tooth, especially on the massive S10 screen. The clock and widgets look comically huge, you can read the time from across the room. It ultimately makes sense - because the face was designed for the 42mm original apple watch and has not undergone any adjustments other than scaling.
On the Ultra, Apple kept those original faces, but actually utilized the space on the new hardware by coming out with Modular Ultra and Wayfinder (which squeezes in an extra bezel complication over Infograph.)
Now the S10 has the largest display...but nothing to truly utilize it (in terms of watchfaces) which is pretty disappointing. Flux is a fun face, and reflections is fun to play with for 5 minutes, but Apple really needs to bring functionality back to the apple watch.
I still have my Ultra 1, which I'm going to keep primarily just to use the faces designed for the device. I'm sure eventually we'll get an updated modular face, but 10 years is a long time coming.
