S2 SS with Sport band available at Best Buy

I signed up for email notification since this model has been nearly impossible to find in stores in the NYC area if not elsewhere.

Got the email overnight. It's available for deliver as soon as tomorrow (9/29) if you pay for shipping, or Friday 9/30 with free shipping. It's also available that day for in store pickup from several stores, so they're obviously getting a somewhat large shipment in.

Got the notifications as well (gold+cocoa sport band). Finally was able to order one.

I ordered on Apple Sept 16 and was looking at a 3-5 week wait.

Yeah, I see the same for NYC...I do have a Best Buy card so the 0% interest and paying the watch off in 2 months seems appealing. It's been an expensive month!

Yup. Ordered last night. And had to order 2 because the first order seemed to be messed up and now I cannot cancel the first so I guess I'll be getting two of these and taking one back to BB for a refund, but the point is that I got the one I wanted the whole time, so I'm happy.
