Love my new S3 (coming from an S0).

A little confused by the music app though. I thought it was supposed to enable you to stream anything from the Apple Music catalog (including Apple Radio stations).

Instead, I only see my playlists available. Am I missing something?

Did Apple include that caveat anywhere in the announcement or the advertising that they've been running for this?

They did state in the keynote that streaming was coming later. The website says soon. Most believe it will coincide with the Nike watch launch

The TV ad I have seen advertising the streaming music on S3 shows "Coming soon" or something to that effect in small print at the end of the ad.

So if Apple are going to push us down the streaming path with Apple Music to our watches, what happens in rural areas where if the signal drops, surely the streaming music will stop :-(

The watch can hold music. Of course if you have no signal streaming stops. Your cell phone won't work either if it doesn't have signal. Your car doesn't work without gas. Your spouse is bored without Viagra. So what's your obtuse remark about anyway?

Ok before accusing me of asking stupid questions. What i was referring to was that before OS4 I could access all my 20gigs worth of music with my watch connected to my phone. If I want to have complete access to my music library, I will have to stream because my watch can't hold more than a few gig of data and the option to control my music from the watch was taken away in WatchOS4.

Ok try and earn some polite manners before accusing me of asking stupid questions. Is that clear or would you like me to draw a picture for you
First I was being snarky, so don't take it so personally. Not everything you read is an attack. But you can still listen to music on your phone from your Watch and still control it. To access streaming features from Apple Music you have to wait for Apple to update the Music app on the Watch, which is coming later.

Ok thanks for the info buddy and no hard feelings :)

Isnt that feature coming later from what I understand?

Curious. Doesn’t streaming music from your watch kill the battery a lot faster? I don’t even get a days worth of battery life on my S0

You're actually accessing your music on your phone and not on your watch since the Awatch can only store 8GB worth of data.

With S3 Cellular everything will work the same BUT you can either 1. ask siri to play a specific song from the 40million catalog of Apple OR 2. Access your in-watch stored data OR 3. access your 20GB iPhone offline music. Whichever floats your boat.

It will definitely have an effect on battery but we don't know how much yet. I guess the thinking is that people are only likely to do this for the duration of a run for example (average run for most people i'm guessing 30-60 minutes?) and so it will be fine.

I easily get a day's use out of my S0's battery, so I guess it depends what you're doing with it.

Seems to die a lot faster when I workout even if I don't use the workout app on the watch. That being said on the look out for some apple watch charger cables on sale.
