Feel free to send links to existing threads, I couldnt see if there was a previous convo on this before.

Issue details: When I go for a run (w/o my iphone) I can make it about a 1/4 mile and then Spotify stops playing music, the interface appears to be playing music as I can push Pause. I push Pause, then Play and then Spotify is locked up. I then flip over to the Control Center and the red letters say DISCONNECTED. I open Cellular and the on/off is set to off. I switch to ON, it immediately connects (green dots showing cell strength). Spotify is now having a fit as well as (sometimes) Bluetooth has jettisoned my Jabras. Sometimes I have to fully reboot to get Spotify un-hung and Bluetooth to reconnect. Sometimes on a run I have to reboot several times and when I do everything works just fine….until the watch disconnects from Cellular again and then it all starts all over.

I’ve reset my network settings on my phone, no help. And yes this is the cellular watch, series 5.

Ultimately my questions are this: 1) is it typical for watchOS not to AUTO reconnect to cell service? I’m puzzled that I would have to via the OS reconnect Cellular). 2) Is this possibly a Spotify issue? And am I wrong in thinking that there was a way to force quit watch apps that seems to have been removed (even when an App is clearly failing cough cough watch Spotify)?

many thanks, forgive typos. Not enough caffeine…

I can’t answer the second question as I use Apple Music. But for the first one, it definitely should reconnect to cellular. When I’m going for a run (I also have a S5 with watchOS 7.5), the music stops like 5 seconds when I’m too far from my Wi-Fi, but after 5 seconds I’m connected to LTE and music restarts on its own. Maybe it is a Spotify issue, but I doubt it because Spotify shouldn’t be allowed to access to your control center. I can’t think of a solution other than reboot your AW and contact Apple/your carrier if it isn’t resolved.

Thanks Wesd1234. I have a feeling this is the apple eco-sphere telling me that if I want to use Spotify and Jabras this is what I get.

This doesn’t sound right. My watch, once on cellular, will stay connected until it’s back on wifi or Bluetooth.
May be time to try a nuke and re-setup.

While I can’t explain why the cellular setting switches to Off, do make sure you’ve got a good cell signal. The watch doesn’t have the same antenna strength as a phone does.

Thanks xraydoc, I might need some pointers for the nuke/re-pave. but in the meantime, here is some new (yet unhelpful) things.

1. I test cased this by adding (gag) Apple Music, to rule out Spotify. And the exact same behavior exists.
2. I chatted with Apple Support and they said….wait for it….call Verizon.

I asked the Apple Support person if they were familiar with Hot Potato.

In more confusing news, today I went for a run and while my run was terrible Downloaded tunes via Apple Music was just fine and AFAIK it never disconnected.
